WordPress is still a solid tool, but it needs ongoing maintenance (security updates, plugins) and adds technical overhead for a simple showcase site. What I build is lighter, faster to load, and free of WordPress's usual security vulnerabilities. The honest trade-off: without an added CMS, you won't edit the content yourself afterward, as explained above.
